Hola is Hello

I'm so glad to have your mail.
I don't go to internet-cafe often, so I can't reply you quickly.
How's every body of our club? Have you met often, at least once a week?
Spanish is not easy to learn, especially for my age. You will think it'll be a excuse, right?
Please send the regard to our English teacher Joel, and tell him that I miss him, in Antigua, here are many visitors, so I still can learn English in the same time.
Hope to see you soon.
Ellen

Hola Ellen,
Today is Double Tenth Day, the national birthday. The autumnal sun is shining high above cotton-white clouds; things look bright and dazzling, while the shadows appear to be enticingly cool and pleasant. i am all set for the holiday.
Today is also the day for the opening game of National League, Dodgers vs. Philies. Since i don't have a television, i went to a newly-open sports center near the train station. Although the usual path i took was wide enough for cars and passengers, yet it was under construction, a drilling crane crouching in the middle of the street, ding-ding-ding, dong-dong-dong, plowing the cement ground, while i was passing. Instead of horse dung, there were dog shits along the way, or "mines" as i call them, most of which were no longer fresh, baked under the sun, or had been stepped flat, leaving some trailing lines of the victims' feet. i walked, hopping and dodging once in a while, among the densely parked motorcycles.
There were three televisions in the sports center. The place was blasting with jingles of playing machines. Most people came here for the fun of batting and pitching. i was the very minority, sitting on a bench with the sheer concentration like an ascetic monk, keeping an eagle eye on every movement on the screen as if there might be an epiphany. My favored Dodgers, by the way Sheryl also favors them, got a good start but lost in the end. i saw Kuo, another Honor of Taiwan besides Wang, pitching a scoreless eighth inning.
After the game, i went to a nearby Carrefour for some necessities. On my way home the train station was in full swing, crowded with tourists, coming or going. i shouldered a large can of mineral water, with a box of raisins in hand, threading through the crowds like an under-paid waiter who would serve no one at all. Certain key moments of the game kept replaying in my deflated mind.
i shall overcome. Game 2 is at four o'clock tomorrow morning and...
The sun also rises!
