Jelly, Irene, Mimi, Abel, Roger, Crystal, Ellen, Morning

Morning :

turning in

During the time when i had lunch, the midday TV news were all about the turning in of a desperate young killer and the city where i am staying. i recalled one of my classmates in junior high school, who wished to be a celebrity in the future, even at the cost of robbing a bank. Then to show me his determination, he raised his leg and shook some dirt over my lunch box. The young killer blamed the education for his falling. That is not very true, because i have never heard of that classmate's name again after graduation. But since Google is so powerful and convenient, so i google him to see how well he keeps his promise. Wow, he is now an assistant professor in a university of Kaohsiung, a PHD in law from the University of Manchester. Not exactly a celebrity or some top-wanted outlaw, he owes me a lunch!

cranky hands

The construction workers don't have Sunday off.
They are still working in this seething hot weather.
Right now there is no sign of construction,
all i can hear is the noises of destruction made by bulldozers and their cousins, by the name of "Cranky Hand", which outspeak my humble music from computer.
The site looks miserable like being newly hit by missiles, with clouds of dust blowing in the wind.
Such an eyesore that the sky can't tolerate.
Every afternoon the dark clouds are summoned to gather in a meeting of thundering and lightning,
the conclusion is quite simple and routine:
rain, rain, more rain pouring down on the heat of civilization.

rugby

Rugby is an alien sport to me. i seldom see it on sports channel or read it on newspaper, and have never heard anyone discuss it before. Today i saw a movie, Invictus, directed by Clint Eastwood. Rugby plays a good part in the movie. It becomes a symbol of how the people of South Africa unite together under the leadership of Nelson Mandela. It may be an exaggeration or over-simplification that a sport can have such a great power, but it gives me, a foreigner, a rough sketch of reconciliation between black and white after the apartheid in South Africa. i can feel the same aspiration, as a baseball fan, that spans across the racial and political differences; black and white over there, blue and green here in Taiwan. To my surprise, Taiwan also plays a part in the movie; couple of appearances of our national flag, and Nelson's plan to visit Taiwan in the conversation; and i feel as if Taiwan were a member of the UN, eyes smart with brimming tears. While rugby satisfies their hunger for extraordinary, our national sport, baseball, is plagued by game manipulation. Money, that's what we are famous for.

death sentence

The abolishment of death sentence is sentenced to death.
A minister steps down, no appeal.

The trial is closed in one day,
so quick and dramatic,
even before i wake up in the morning.

i expect there would have been more pros and cons.

Curtain falls.

river

Last night i heard a mosquito singing
at the border of my sleep, when i was dreaming
a crystal blue river running through a memory
of high-school friends fast bicycling.

double injections

There was a meandering line of people in front of Taiwan Bank this morning.

Waiting to get anti-flu injection? Which would really cheer up the official of Health Department to tears.

Of course not that kind of fantasy.

What's up? i asked one of the participants.

They were lining to buy the set of Tiger Year's coins.

So i left them and went on straight to get anti-flu injection.

Nobody in front of me,

nobody after me,

which would also bring the official of Health Department to tears, only a little joyless, since i am a nobody.

So i was rewarded with double injections;

one for H1N1,

the other seasonal flu,

both of my arms got medals of courage.

Well, they are taking effect, time to say good-bye, my love~~
